Democratic Republic of Congo President Fèlix Tshisekedi Tshilombo has met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
The two leaders held discussions regarding a number of issues including investments, security, cybersecurity, agriculture and infrastructure.
According to a statement by the DRC Presidency, Netanyahu is keen on to strengthening bilateral ties between Israel and the DRC with an Israeli embassy soon to be opened in Kinshasa.
Meanwhile, President Tshisekedi also committed to in turn move the Congolese embassy from Tel Aviv to the capital Jerusalem.
President Tshisekedi has long shown commitment to strengthening ties with Israel and most notably even participated in an “ecumenical” service to reaffirm the bonds of friendship and fraternity between the Christians of the DRC and Israel back in March, 2020.
