Preliminary results of the feasibility study carried out in the proposed battery and electric vehicles initiative between the DR Congo and Zambia show that a mammoth US$30 billion will be needed to undertake the project.
On Thursday 21 September 2023, results of the feasibility were unveiled by the technical and financial partners supporting the two governments in New York, USA on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
The initial elements of the pre-feasibility study for the project were availed before prominent figures from major industries in the world.
“The first study, which has just been released, shows us that 30 billion US dollars is needed to develop this vast project to capture, by 2035 – 2040, nearly 7,000 billion USD,” revealed the Congolese Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya.
Meanwhile, Kahongya added that complete results of the study will be shared at the for the second edition of the Business forum to be held in Kinshasa.
