President Felix Tshisekedi has told close confidants he will not concede defeat to opposition Ensemble pour la Republique leader Moise Katumbi because most Katangese are foreigners who will send him and his team to jail.
Tshisekedi has since asked CENI, the electoral commission of Congo, to publish falsified figures showing he had won the choatic election held on December 20 & 21, 2023 by 52%.
This is contrary to the actual figures independently confirmed by CENI insiders showing Katumbi had won by at least 67%.
“Over my dead body that I can handover power to Katumbi. Tshisekedi, Congolese of father and mother, never,” Tshisekedi told his confidants.
CENI has since falsfied the numbers will publish results showing the UDPS leader as the winner.
The cooked results seen from CENI put Tshisekedi of UDPS at 52% while Katumbi is placed at 28% with Martin Fayulu getting 17%
However, the parallel voter tabulation carried out by civil society show that Katumbi has won convincingly despite widespread fraud.
Meanwhile, Tshisekedi has started dispatching police officers from Kinshasa to camp in Lubumbashi, Kolwezi and Likasi among other areas to deal with a feared Katanga uprising.
CENI is expected to announce its provisional results by next week on Friday. They will also release results province by province starting today after failing to do so yesterday.
