MOURNING BOMB ATTACK VICTIMS: Fally Ipupa Cancels Goma & Bukavu Concerts

Celebrated Congolese music star Fally Ipupa has announced the cancellation of his musical concerts in the cities of Goma and Bukavu that were scheduled to take place this weekend.

According to a statement by the Fally Ipupa Foundation, these postponements have been necessitated by the funerals of the 35 people killed in the bombing attacks on a displaced people’s camp near Goma by suspected M23 rebels

.

“Indeed, the funerals of our compatriots cowardly killed taking place during the same period, we can only express our compassion by postponing our stage performances of these weekends,” the statement by the music star’s team reads.

Fally Ipupa Foundation also reiterated its commitment to delivering to its promise of carrying out school project for refugees and displaced persons of war.

As a reminder, the Fally Ipupa charity concert in Goma was threatened with boycott by the residents of city due to the expensive rate of tickets costing between $300 and $1,200, in a city threatened by war and described the charges as an insult to the collective conscience.

Fally Ipupa was scheduled to perform at the at the Serena Hotel in Goma on 17th May and the Malia Hall in Bukavu on 19th May with the stage performances of the music superstar now postponed indefinitely for obvious reasons.
