BEHIND CLOSED DOORS: Vita & Aigles Fined & Asked to Play Without Fans After Violent Incidents

The Congolese football league, LINAFOOT Management Commission have ordered Kinshasa clubs AS Vita Club and Aigles du Congo to pay a fine of US$7,500 each and play their next matches behind closed doors for following violent conduct by their fans.

Vita and Aigle met last weekend at the Stade de Martyrs in a LINAFOOT Play-off match which ended in a 1-1 draw before a violent exchange broke out between the two sides’ supporters.

The decision the league management is contained in the final communiqué of its extraordinary meeting held last Monday.

The two clubs have since been suspended until these fines are paid.

“Because of the behavior of their supporters, their next matches will be played behind closed doors and in the event of a repeat, all their remaining matches will be relocated to other cities at the expense of their teams,” LINAFOOT warned in a press release.

However, no decision was made to change the outcome of the match with both Vita and Aigle sharing a point each as they league play-offs continue.
