The African Union (AU) Peace & Security Council have sent an request to AU Commission chairperson Moussa Faki to urgently approve the transfer of equipment to eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The peace and security council have made the call for the AU Commission expedite the process of sending the equipment to DRC as the situation in the east deteriorates.
The M23 Rebel Group have in the last few days seized a number of territories following clashes with the FARDC prompting urgent call for reinforcement in equipment to support the efforts of the of SADC Mission.
The equipment currently at the AU Continental Logistics Base in Douala, Cameroon is expected to be sent to support SADC’s SAMIDRC in implementing their mandate to curb the violence in eastern DRC.
