Opposition common candidate Moïse Katumbi has arrived in Kamina, Haut-Lomami Province where scores of residents have turned up for the popular Number 3 candidate.
Large crowds gathered as early as morning in anticipation of Katumbi and his ally Augustin Matata Ponyo’s arrival set for noon.
Katumbi and allies were received by thousands of supporters who were heard chanting “He who refuses Katumbi, refuses happiness” and other songs to back the Ensemble Pour la Republique party leader’s candidature.
Katumbi later interacted with crowds at a rally held at the centre of the city where he addressed how he intends to tackle the number numerous challenges faced by the local population.
Among the topics of discussion Katumbi addressed was the Kamina-Mwene Ditu railway line which he intends to rehabilitate as part of his US$14.2 billion construction and rehabilitation project for the DR Congo when voted into office.
