TSHISEKEDI UNDER PRESSURE: Congolese Government Set to Recall Belgium Ambassador After Jean-Jacques Mamba Brussels Presser to AFC

Democratic Republic of Congo President Fèlix Tshisekedi is sweating with pressure from Corneille Nangaa’s Congo River Alliance (AFC) coalition with the M23 Rebel Group which continues to gain momentum in their ambition to oust him.

Having already managed to occupy several towns and villages in the east, the AFC made yet another statement on Monday with the announcement of Jean-Jacques Mamba joining the coalition.

Mamba, a former ally of Prime Minister of Defence Jean-Pierre Bemba and member of his MLC party, held a press conference in the Belgian capital, Brussels, where he announced his decision to join forces with Nangaa in the AFC/M23 coalition.

News of Mamba’s announcement has pilled more pressure on Tshisekedi who has resorted to recall the Congolese ambassador to Brussels for consultation.

After the official formation of the AFC on December 15 in Nairobi, Tshisekedi had also summoned the Kenyan ambassador stationed in Kinshasa before recalling his accredited representative in Nairobi as a sign of protest.
