THEFT OF PUBLIC FUNDS: Works Yet Commence On Deplorable Kananga-Mbuji Mayi Despite Govt Releasing Funds

Construction works on the Kananga-Mbuji Mayi road are yet to comence even after over a year since government US$30 million to fund the project.

The road, a 188km stretch, connecting the two cities of the Great Kasai region remains impassable despite funds having been made available since 2022.

In 2022, Fèlix Tshisekedi’s regime launched the construction of the road following the release of funds by the Treasury.

However, latest spot check on the road saw no engineers or construction workers have so far turned up on site to commence works.

The Kananga-Mbuji Mayi road project is just one of many others that have not had work commence despite release of funds by the state under Tshisekedi’s regime.

Tshisekedi’s regime has been characterized by a great deal of embezzlement of public funds as well as corruption over the past five years.
