Henry Magie Walifetu, a senior member of former president Joseph Kabila’s People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), has joined Corneille Nangaa and the political-military Congo River Alliance (AFC) coalition.
The AFC welcomed Walifetu alongside Adam Shalwe, also a former youth executive of the PPRD, at a meeting held by coalition supported in Kiwandja of Rutshuru territory, North Kivu Province.
Walifetu was previously arrested by authorities for allegedly insulting Head of State Félix Tshisekedi.
He was released in May 2023 after spending two years at Makala Central Prison of Kinshasa.
The AFC continues to grow by each day and gaining weight in eastern DRC where it has so far managed to occupy several towns and villages advancing into the city of Goma.
