The incident happened on Sunday as members of the Kimbanguiste church of Lubumbashi were returning from a wedding ceremony for one of the members at Mokambo in the territory of Sakania.

The accident happened after the vehicle carrying the church members collided with an heavy goods vehicle which was speeding and had lost control.

”The driver of the heavy goods vehicle coming from Kasumbalesa towards Mokambo who was traveling at high speed would have lost control of his steering wheel, forgetting the priority on the right. This is how he will walk on the mini bus with 23 faithful Kimbanguists on board. On the spot, 18 dead and 6 survivors including four women and two children. Among the dead, two couples,” explains Tony Mutung of Kimball Church in his update.
