Congolese female boxing sensation Brigitte Mbabi has sealed her qualification ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which are set to kick-off this July.
Mbabi confirmed her qualification for the Summer Games following her victory over Ivanusa Moreira of Cape Verde on Sunday at the Bangkok Arena in Thailand.
The 22-year old Congolese boxing star defeated her by referee stoppage in the third round in the women’s -66 kg category.
Born in Lubumbashi, Brigitte Mbabi is the third Congolese pugilist to qualify for the Olympics after Marcelat Sakobi in the -57kg category and Pita Kabeji Peter in the -80kg category.
Mbabi won the bronze medal in the -70 kg category.
