Rwanda has announced it will shed light on the details surrounding the assassination of opposition Ensemble pour la République spokesperson Chérubin Okende.
Okende, 61, was found dead on July 13, 2022 in his vehicle after disappearing on scene when he went to the Constitutional Court.
Rwanda, who is at loggerheads with the Democratic Republic of Congo, may have made the announcement that will unsettled Kinshasa.
“It is with regret that the Rwandan government learns of the assassination of Congolese opponent Cherubin Okende. The Rwandan government promises to shed light on this file thanks to its surveillance satellite which covers all of Central Africa.
“In the meantime, Rwanda offers its condolences to its biological and political family,” a statement dated July 14 and is signed by Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente, reads.
