NO POWER LASTS FOREVER: Muyumba Bemoans Demolishing of Kabila’s GLM Residence by Government

Opposition People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) Senator Francine Muyumba has expressed her displeasure over the move by government to order the demolition of former Republican President Joseph Kabila’s GLM residence.

On Monday, fence walls at the private residence of the former DR Congo leader were demolished as ordered by the authorities.

Muyumba has since described the move by government as an act to provoke the former President’s political party.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Muyumba has advised the current regime that the security and honor of former leaders are essential elements of national unity.

“Congo belongs to all of us, and it is our duty to protect the democratic values and security of those who have served our country” Muyumba wrote.

She continues: “No power is eternal, the wheel turns. Every President ends up becoming honorary. It is in the national interest to preserve this status and ensure the security of former heads of state.”

For Muyumba, the demolition of the fence wall at the residence of the country’s former President jeopardizes security and this action in addition to being irresponsible, undermines the reputation and dignity of the DR Congo.
