Ukraine has opened its first diplomatic represention in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital Kinshasa as part of the two nations’ newly formed bilateral ties.
The Special Envoy to the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, Maksym Subkh, officially inaugurated the Ukraine’s embassy in Kinshasa.
The ceremony took place this Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at a time when Ukraine is facing a turbulent security situation due to the ongoing the war with Russia.
Speaking at the event Maksym Subkh said that this opening of a new embassy in Kinshasa will intensify the rapprochement between the two countries.
“Today we open the Ukrainian embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I am convinced that this extraordinary event, like the opening last month of the Honorary Consulate of the DRC in the Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod (…), will contribute to the rapprochement between our two countries.” Maksym Subkh said.
Ukraine is undergoing a war of aggression led by Russia which has totaled three years, a situation similar to that of the DRC who are also facing its neighbor, Rwanda in the eastern part of the country.
