Incumbent President Fèlix Tshisekedi’s time as leader is indeed coming to an end as more of the Democratic Republic of Congo continue to reject his bid for re-election.
In a latest embarrassing scene, Tshisekedi’s appointed Tanganyika Province governor Julie Ngungwa Mwayuma had all her attempts to rally the Kalemie population to vote for the incumbent on Saturday.
Governor Ngungwa saw the crowd at the rally chant slogans to support opposition common candidate Moïse Katumbi rather than Tshisekedi.
The rally soon turned into that of Katumbi as the crowd continuously chanted “Numero Trois” (Number 3), the candidate number for the former Katanga Governor.
Early observation and opinion polls have so far shown Katumbi as the leading candidate in the 2023 General Elections ahead of Tshisekedi and others.
