INTO THE LAST EIGHT: Mazembe Thrash Pyramids to Reach Quarter-finals

DR Congo champions TP Mazembe have qualified for the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after a 3-0 win over Egyptian heavyweights Pyramids FC in Lubumbashi.

Lamine N’Diaye’s side put up a resounding performance in Kamalondo to confirm their place in the last with a match to spare.

Striker Joel Beya put the Ravens in the lead with 32 minutes on the clock after being played through by Glody Likonza to send the lively crowd at the Stade de TP Mazembe into wild jubilation.

Likonza capped off a fine first-half performance with a goal of his own in regulation time to give the Ravens a comfortable lead at the break.

Pyramids made a strong start to the second-half but could still not find their way past the solid Mazembe defence led by captain Kevin Mondeko Zatu.

Second-half substitute Patient Mwamba sealed the victory for Mazembe with a third in added time as Mazembe collected their third win at home in the Champions League this season.

Mazembe top Group A with 10 points ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns who have 7 points before they face Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou later tonight.
