Police in the Democratic Republic of Congo have stormed opposition candidate Martin Fayulu’s ECiDe party Headquarters as they looked to prevent a march to demonstrate against the 2023 General Elections.
Fayulu and other members of the opposition gathered at the ECiDe party Headquarters in Triomphal Boulevard as they planned to go ahead with their protest.
However, there was heavy police presence that had been deployed by the government in Kinshasa at the premises.
Police stormed the premises and initiated attacks on the protestants even before they could take to the streets and fired projectiles at the defenseless citizens.
Tension has since continued to rise in Kinshasa with protestants firing projectiles at the police in retaliation.
Angry Kinshasa also continue to demand for the annulation of the unsatisfactory results of the presidential polls that have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
