CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Vita Succumb To Defeat Away at Premeiro

Democratic Republic of Congo’s envoys in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League have suffered a narrow 1-0 away defeat at the hands of Angolan champions CD Premeiro de Agosto.

The match, a first leg preliminary round encounter, was played this afternoon at the Estadio do 11 Novembro in Luanda.

A second-half goal by former DC Motema Pembe striker, Dagó Tamu sent Premeiro past the Dauphin Noirs after a highly competitive encounter.

After 71 minutes played with no goal scored, Dagó was enough to give the Angolans the advantage heading into the return leg encounter.

Vita now need to defeat Premeiro by more than a goal in the second leg encounter set to be played next weekend in Kinshasa where the winner of the tie will progress to the pre-group stage.

Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman lie in wait in the pre-group stage to face the winner between Vita and Premeiro having progressed via walk over after South Sudan club Salaam FC Bor forfeited the fixture due to lack of funds.
