President Félix Tshisekedi has sent a special envoy to meet President Emerson Mnangagwa seeking guidance on how to rig the December 2023 elections in exchange of minerals.
President Tshisekedi couched the visit as a diplomatic engagement to diacuss the security of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
President Mnangagwa is embattled after being exposed by Aljazeera in an illegal gold trade his country and appointees are engaged in.
But President Tshisekedi wants to borrow from the same script as President Mnangagwa going into the 2023 elections.
Diplomatic sources disclosed that President Tshisekedi’s tribesman Serge Tshibangu was the conduit of President Tshisekedi’s message.
An official statement also confirmed the interaction between the two heads of state announcing it was an effort for them to re-engage and renew their commitment so that its bears fruit as more countries turn.
“We have come to bring a message to His Excellency President Mnangagwa from his
brother, His Excellency Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” Tshibangu told local media. “The message of peace, the message of wanting to
revive and strengthen ties between the two.”
Prof Tshibangu has expressed his gratitude to President Mnangagwa for his hospitality and positive response to the initiative.
“We are so grateful to President Mnangagwa for the warm welcome and hospitality, as well as for this positive response from him that we
are bringing back to DRC, his brother,” he added.
Prof Tshibangu said he was fascinated by Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa’s open door policy.
