The Democratic Republic of Congo’s men’s and women’s handball national teams have failed to mint gold medals at the ongoing 13th African Games after losing in the finals on Friday.
The women’s team were the first to be handed a 33-15 defeat by Angola to contribute a silver medal to the DR Congo’s medal collection at the tournament in Accra, Ghana.
In the men’s handball final, the DR Congo’s Leopards lost to the Pharaohs of Egypt with a close score of 32-33, later on Friday, at the BSB Borteryman Sports Complex.
The DR Congo took the silver medal against an Egyptian team which, in thirteen participations, reigns supreme with eight gold medals (1965, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2023) .
