Heavily armed soldiers assigned by President Felix Tshisekedi to massacre Katangese yesterday made a strong statement with a parade in town.
The soldiers wearing well equipped military fatigue aboard armoured vehicles made a tour of town much to the annoyance of locals.
An audio message warning Katangese to be ready for death as government had assigned soldiers with a specific mission to eliminate them ahead of the elections in December.
Katanga has a population of over 18 million Congolese with about 10 million living in the country’s second largest city of Lubumbashi.
The region is considered to be a strong of opposition leader Moise Katumbi and former president Joseph Kabila.
President Félix Tshisekedi has been working hard to eliminate opposition posed by Katumbi who will challenge him in the December 20 presidential election.
