[VIDEO] SERVING THE PEOPLE: Katumbi Slashes Mealie Meal Prices For Disabled Clients

A bag of mealie meal in Congo’s Haut-Katanga province is fetching about $25 for a 25kg.

The struggle to purchase a 25kg bag is real and evident.

So, when local businessman and politician Moise Katumbi’s milling company, Mashamba, awarded special prices to its disabled clients, it was all joy.

Katumbi firm offered a special price of $15 for each 25 kg bag to those who are differently able bodied in Lubumbashi and they did not hide their joy.

Mealie meal, which is a maize flour that locals use to make the staple food of the Grand Katanga, Ugali, is an expensive product for an average consumer in the south-east part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
