VENUE: DRC Football Association Switch To Stade De Mazembe For Leopards AfCON Fixture Against Mauritania

Pressure has forced FECOFA, the Democratic Republic of Congo football association, to revisit its earlier decision to name a stadium in Cameroon as their venue for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania.

The association had named Japoma Stadium in Doula as venue for the March 24, 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group match against Mauritania.

According to the latest announcement published today, FECOFA will use Stade de Mazembe in the country’s second largest city – Lubumbashi.

The TP Mazembe stadium will finally host the DRC vs Mauritania match on March 24, 2023, of the 3rd day of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers scheduled for Côte d’Ivoire in early 2024.

The announcement was made in a post on the LinkedIn account of the Congolese Football Federation.

CAF has banned two stadiums in Congo after they failed to pass certification due to unsuitable conditions ranging from sanitary to lawn quality leaving the population of 80 million to rely on one stadium only.
