TRIBALIST DRC PRESIDENT: Tshisekedi Fuels Katangese-Kasaï Tension With Hate Speech In Mbuji-Mayi

After recording terrible response in Grand Katanga and other parts of the country, President Felix Tshisekedi returned to his home village in Mbuji-Mayi the already existing and historical tension that exists between Katangese and his Kasai tribe-mates.

Addressing a campaign rally in Mbuji-Mayi, Tshisekedi complained about the response he got in Katanga and accused its leaders of manipulating the population.

He said, “they [Katangese leadership] manipulate our Katangese brothers so that they kill our Kasai brothers, the things of the world that are
useless. We cannot follow that, when we reject someone, we turn our backs on them. Our brothers who have rallied to the enemy [Katumbi], we have no problems with them, we will put everything in the hands of God,” Tshisekedi told a crowd in Mbuji-Mayi.

Tension between Katangese and Kasais has been rising since Tshisekedi came to power.
