TOUCHED & GRATEFUL: Katumbi Departs Central Congo Overwhelmed By Reception

Leading Democratic Republic of Congo opposition leader Moise Katumbi has left the central part of the country deeply touched by the overwhelming reception accorded to him by locals.

Katumbi was predominantly in the coastal city of Matadi an Moanda where multitudes showed up for his visit.

The youths in the area were captured on camera declaring “2023 was for Katumbi, whether they like it or not.”

Katumbi is vying for presidency on December 20, 2023 and is President Felix Tshisekedi’s main challenger.

After the visit, Katumbi posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account expressing his gratitude to the people of Central Congo for the overwhelming response.

“To my dear sisters and brothers in Central Congo, I return with my heart touched by the warm welcome I have received everywhere in Moanda, Boma, Matadi, Kimpese, Mbanza Ngungu, Kasangulu that you gave me.

“Nothing justifies the poverty, hunger, lack of water and electricity, unemployment and misery that we experience across the country.

“You deserve to enjoy the immense riches that heaven has given us,” he said.

Katumbi has pledged to turn around the fortunes of Congolese should they elect him as president on December 20, 2023.

“Soon we will finish together the fight started by our ancestors Dona Kimpa Vita, Mfumu Kimbangu and Mbuta Kasa Vubu, to live as a dignified people while all benefiting from the riches of our country. A new Congo is possible!,” he stated.

In the last four weeks, Katumbi has traversed parts of the country including northern parts of Katanga and western Congo.
