STRANDED IN FOREIGN LAND: DR Congo’s African Games Athletes Spending Nights in the Cold in Ghana

Athletes representing the Democratic Republic of Congo at the ongoing 13th African Games in Ghana have been left stranded with no place to spend night.

The athletes of various sports disciplines have been abandoned by DR Congo government and are seen sleeping on the floor in Accra.

While the athletes spend nights in the cold and on empty stomachs, sports officials from the DR Congo have been checked into five star hotels by the government in Accra.

Neither the Sports Minister Kabulo Mwana Kabulo nor anyone from the Ministry has so far provided any update to the sporting contingent in Accra.

The families of the athletes back home have since appealed to Kabulo and government urgently come to the aid of athletes whose safety is not assured in Accra.
