SALOMON’S ILLEGAL ARREST: Bukavu Youths To Hold Protest On June 22

Youths in Bukavu have notified authorities they will hold a protest to demand the unconditional release of Salomon Kalonda, special advisor to opposition leader Moise Katumbi.

According to the notice dated June 16, 2023, five groups under the Ensemble umbrella will converge for the protest.

They include the Interregional Coordinator Federal Presidents of Bukavu, Association of Party structures (Youth of Together for Change and the Katumbist movements, the JER Republic), the DFC (Dynamics of women for change), the DDN (Dynamics Désiré Ntayira), the DSKD (Salomon Kalonda Dynamics for Development) and the FKDD (Katumbist Front for Democracy and Development).

“We hereby approach you for the purposes of which the object is taken up in respect.
Indeed, in accordance with Article 26 of the constitution of February 18, 2006, as amended and supplemented to date, the Coordination of ENSEMBLE for the Republic/City of Bukavu has decided to organize a peaceful march on Thursday 22/06/2023 from 9 a.m. to denounce the arrest and trial of Salomon Kalonda,” the notice reads.

It has been addressed to the Provincial Governor of South Kivu, the Head of Office UN Mission, Provincial Minister of Interior Affairs, the Commander of the City of Police and the media.
