RECONCILIATION TALKS: Fayulu’s ECIDé Call For Discussions to Reconcile Congolese Political Parties Under the Mediation of the Church

Opposition Citizen Engagement for Development (ECIDE) party led by Martin Fayulu have called for peace talks to be initiated between political parties after the 2023 General Elections.

The ECIDé held their annual National Council held Kinshasa under the theme “Save the DRC from Danger” from March 1 to 5, 2024.

At the end of the party’s gathering, the ECIDé resolved to hold talks Congolese political players around the theme “Truth, Reconciliation, National Cohesion to counter any attempt to Balkanize the country and recurring political crises” to be organized and chaired by church leaders.

“Given the extent of the national disunity resulting from the electoral hold-up of 2018 and the sham elections of 2023, the National Council of the ECiDé invites the National Office to seek the involvement of the spiritual fathers of the country to facilitate discussions between daughters and sons of the country around the theme ‘Truth-Reconciliation-National Cohesion’.

The objective is to counter balkanization plans, put an end to recurring political crises and give the country a chance to rebuild itself” the ECIDé’s press release reads.

The ECIDé’s National Council affirmed that the illegitimacy of institutions and their leaders has led to the decay of the State and to perpetuating insecurity, exposing the country to balkanization.
