PUNCHING SUCCESS: Full Success For the DRC in Boxing at the African Games

The Democratic Republic of Congo recorded an impressive three victories out of three fights in boxing on Friday March 15, 2024, at the ongoing 13th African Games taking place in Accra, Ghana.

At the Bukom Boxing Arena in the men under 51 kilos, Kolongo Bakora, aged 18, beat Equatorial Guinean Luis Mario on points in the round of 16 and will face the South African Lusizi in the quarter-finals.

Boniface Zengala, the African champion in the men’s under 67 kilos category, eliminated Boniface Shain of Seychelles via knockout in the first round of the Round of 16 fight.

Zengala, the Congolese, advanced to the quarter-finals where will face off with Edoh from Togo.

Matete Balo, champion of the last edition of the Congo championship, also beat Juan Marcos of Equatorial Guinea via knockout in the first round in the men’s under 72 kilos category and will meet Olaore from Nigeria in the quarter-finals.
