PRESEASON: Confed Cup Preps Take Shape As Lupopo Play Zambian Giants in Double Friendlies

Democratic Republic of Congo’s envoys in this season’s TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo have heightened up their preparations for the competition in Zambia.

Lupopo who arrived in Ndola, Copperbelt Province last week, faced record Zambian champions Nkana in the city of Kitwe on Sunday in two friendly matches played at Nkana Stadium.

In the first encounter in which Lupopo’s Malian tactician Mohamed Magasouba availed a second string side, the Zambians won the match by a 1-0 scoreline.

However, Lupopo would return strong in the second match as a goal by Horso Mwaku Malanga in the 4th minute gave Magasouba’s side victory.

Lupopo are currently based in Ndola and using the magnificent Levy Mwanawasa Stadium as their base, with the 46,000 capacity arena likely to like last season host the Railmen’s Confederation Cup home matches with the Frederic Kibassa Maliba Stadium in Lubumbashi still pending CAF approval.

The Railmen are also preparing for the Congolese domestic campaign with the Linafoot scheduled to get underway this month on, 26th August.

Meanwhile, Lupopo will enter the Confederation Cup at the second round stage where they will face the winner between South African side Sekhukhune United and Young Buffaloes of Eswatini.
