POWERLESS JUDICIAL SYSTEM: Tshisekedi Reinstates Fraudster Governors

The autonomy of the Congolese judicial system continues to be weakened by the corrupt leadership of the ruling government who protect officials involved different sorts of crime and irregularities.

President Fèlix Tshisekedi’s order to lift the suspension placed on Kinshasa Governor Gentiny Ngobila and four others has been successfully carried out.

Ngobila alongside Bobo Boloko governor of Équateur Province, César Limbaya of Mongala and Pancras Bongo Ngoy of Tshuapa as well as the vice-governor of Kasaï-Central Makita Mfuamba have been reinstated back into the posts as heads of their provinces.

The five governors were suspended after being guilty by the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) of electoral fraud, vandalism of electoral material, ballot box stuffing and possession of electronic voting devices (DEV) during the 2023 General Elections.

However the five fraudsters, who are senior members of the ruling UDPS party, are back in their offices following the intervention of their ally and partner in fraud, Tshisekedi who has bypassed the law.

Minister of Interior Affairs Peter Kazadi has confirmed the decision by government to recall the fraudster governors in a statement dated January 25, 2024 and made public this Friday, January 26.

Kazadi claims he lifted the suspensions of the respective governors following administrative appeals and requests submitted before the constitutional court by the governors while still awaiting legal decisions.
