Opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique party President Moïse Katumbi was among thousands of people who attended the funeral of late former Transport Minister and his spokesperson Cherubin Okende which was held in Kinshasa on Wednesday.
Okende who was a close ally of Katumbi, was assassinated in his car after being kidnapped by political opponents on 13th July in Kinshasa.
Having been denied the request to fly to Kinshasa with his private jet by the Aviation Authority, Katumbi managed to make it into the capital where he was among the mourners that went to witness the burial of Okende.
Katumbi was in an emotional aura and broke down in tears during the procession at the N’sele Necropolis.
Okende was one of Katumbi’s closest allies and was an important figure in the Ensemble Pour la Republique party ahead of the 20 December elections.
