Two Rwandese men have been arrested for registering as voters in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
THe two are 23-year-old Joshua Risham and 20-year-old Kelly Sharif who were arrested in Lubumbashi by the security services of the province of Haut-Katanga and presented to the mayor of the city on Thursday February 16, 2023.
The communication service of the town hall of Lubumbashi which confirms the news to 7SUR7.CD, specifies that these two Rwandans are all members of the same family.
During their hearing, these young people confirmed their Rwandan nationality after enlisting as voters not long ago in the south-eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to the same source, the parents of these young Rwandans have been living in Lubumbashi for a few years. However, the two young people arrested spent have only six months and six years respectively in the capital of Haut-Katanga.
Mayor of the city of Lubumbashi Martin Kazembe and his deputy Joyce Tunda took the opportunity to call on the population to be vigilant.
The two Rwandese nationals are being held at the Congolese National Police (PNC) in Haut-Katanga pending further investigations.
