MURDER: Armed Soldier Kills Wife & Brother-in-law In Tchomia

Two people have been shot dead by a soldier on the night of Monday into Tuesday in Tchomia village in the plains of Lake Albert in Ituri Province.

The civil society in Tchomia have confirmed the unfortunate development that is suspected to have occurred after a marital dispute between the soldier and his wife.

“The Genesis of the problem could be a marital conflict between the soldier and his wife which unfortunately turned into a tragedy” civil society coordinator Banga Bakahuna said in an interview.

The soldier is said to have opened fire on his wife at her brother’s house where she had fled to after having a dispute with her husband.

The army man fled the scene of the tragedy to an unknown destination after shooting both his wife and her brother at point blank range.

“The soldier having pursued his wife to the home of his brother-in-law where he shot her and then on leaving he shot at point blank range at his brother-in-law too who was outside and headed into an unknown direction” Bakahuna added.

Meanwhile, Ituri army lieutenant Jules Ngongo has confirmed the arrest of the soldier who will soon undergo trial.

This latest double-murder case is the second recorded within a month on the coast of Lake Albert and Tchomia village after another soldier gruesomely murdered 13 people including his wife at a funeral.
