MOST DECORATED ARTIST: Fally Ipupa Bags Trace Award To Hit New Congolese Milestone

Popular DR Congo music superstar Fally Ipupa has been awarded the Best Live performing artist in Africa at the 2023 Trace Awards held which were held in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday.

The Trace Awards are a new awards franchise created by Trace, a global TV and multimedia platform. The purpose of the awards is to recognize African and Afro-influenced musicians.

This latest international accolade was Fally Ipupa’s staggering 12th award won in the 2023 alone while he most importantly became the most decorated Congolese music artist.

With 75 accolades to his name so far since making his debut in 2006, Fally Ipupa now ranks as the most awarded artist in the Congolese music history.

Not in attendance as he currently prepares for his latest European musical tour, Fally Ipupa accepted the award virtually through a video that was played at the ceremony.

The “Dicap La Mérville” saw off competition from Nigerian music sensations Burna Boy, Wizkid and Yemi Alade, South Africa’s Musa Keys and The Compozers of Ghana to bag the Best Live award.

He was also nominated for Best Artist Africa – Francophone award that was won by Ivorian star Didi B.
