Ensemble pour la République president Moise Katumbi has warned President Felix Tshisekedi against suffocating the democratic rights of Congolese as the ruling party schemes to eliminate the popular challenger from the December 20, 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Katumbi’s message was echoed by many in his base of Katanga where he addressed multitudes on Monday.
He urged Kinshasa to stay clear of shenanigans that will plunge the country into chaos.
But today, Tshisekedi sent American citizen, Noel Tshiani,
who is contesting the DRC presidency to challenge Katumbi’s candidature in the Constitution Court.
Tshiani initially tried unsuccessfully to introduce a racist law that would have barred Katumbi from contesting the election.
But after realizing the recent submission was defective to challenge Katumbi in court, Tshisekedi has assigned Tshani yo accuse Katumbi of being an Italian.
Tshiani is relying on article published in Jeune Afrique as evidence for his challenge.
