Democratic Republic of Congo is headed back into a dictatorship thanks to Fèlix Tshisekedi and his UDPS party who are using force to maintain their stay in power.
In an election already marred by several irregularities, a video of Tshisekedi and UDPS party cadres causing physical harm on innocent citizens who went to express their right to vote has gone viral.
Several people who were thought to be supporters of candidates other than Tshisekedi in Lubumbashi were beaten up mercilessly by the ruling party’s militia group.
Scared of the fierce competition from opposition Congo Ya Makasi coalition candidate Moïse Katumbi, Tshisekedi issued instructions to his thugs to infuse fear and intimidation into innocent citizens.
Tshisekedi had applied several schemes to rig the election that has now been described as a sham by International Observers as well as the Civil Society.
Calls for the annulment of the election have since been voiced out as the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) continue releasing unsatisfactory elections results in favour of Tshisekedi.
