War in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo has persisted over past few weeks with thousands of people displaced from their homes and seeking urgent intervention of government of Fèlix Tshisekedi.
However the situation in the east is not a matter of urgence or priority for Tshisekedi who has been out of the country on leisurely trips from on European nation to another.
Tshisekedi arrived in the city of Antalya, Turkey on Friday to mark his fifth trip out in just over 40 days after he was re-elected as president.
After trips to Namibia, Angola and Belgium, Tshisekedi arrived in Antalya and is expected to attend the 3rd edition of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum (ADF) which takes on 1st to 3rd March 2024.
On sidelines of the ADF, Tshisekedi is also expected to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation and mutual interest.
Tshisekedi’s persistent and expensive trips abroad also continues to leave a negative effect on the DRC’s already grappling economy.
