TP Mazembe President Moïse Katumbi has appealed to the Congolese population to support the club ahead of today’s crucial TotalEnergies CAF Champions League first leg semi-final clash against Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC in Lubumbashi.
Mazembe, the DRC’s sole surviving representives in continental football, are eyeing victory over the reigning Champions League holders to continue their dream of winning a sixth title.
Katumbi has since called on the Congolese to support the the club as it continues to fight to bring honour to the nation.
“Dear moms and dads and all Mazembe supporters, seeing me in front of you has a meaning, that of going straight to the final. If the team advances in the competition, it is thanks to your support that you continue to provide to our players. You play your role fully,” he said.
As a devoted Christian, Katumbi also rallied Mazembe fans to pray for divine intervention as the club continues its chase for continental glory.
“Know that God has never abandoned us throughout this journey. If we are in the semi-final, it is also thanks to you, the Congolese population and not necessarily to us on the committee,” he added.
