The Democratic Republic of Congo is mulling over President Fèlix Tshisekedi’s state of health as he makes his first appearances in public after making his return to the country from a mysterious trip to an unknown destination.
Last week, Tshisekedi flew out of the DRC with the government not providing any information over the reason of his trip or the destination.
Government had only indicated that Tshisekedi had been out to attend to “urgent matters relating to the country” before the making a surprise return to Kinshasa recently.
On his return, changes in Tshisekedi’s physical appearance have been noted with selected body parts seemingly swollen.
Sources also reveal that Tshisekedi had to prematurely cut short his meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk at the Presidential Palace as he had to urgently retire to his chambers.
Tshisekedi was re-elected back into office following with his tenure running up to 2028.
