Former DRC presidential candidate Alain Daniel Shekomba has backed opposition candidate Moïse Katumbi to win the upcoming 20 December Presidential Elections should his candidacy be accepted as well as if a free and fair election is held.
Shekomba who lost his bid to become DRC president back in the 2018 elections, has identified Katumbi as an overwhelming favourite among the 24 candidates that are bidding to become the next president.
“After analyzing the list of presidential candidates, without any complacency, the Joker in the park is Katumbi in the event of transparent elections,” Shekomba wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Faced with a blitz from his rivals to have his candidature invalidated, Shekomba added that Katumbi will be the new president of the DRC once his candidacy is successful and accepted.
“If his candidacy is accepted, he will win, if his candidacy is rejected, it is the person he will support who will win,” he wrote.
Indeed, Katumbi has emerged as one of the most popular candidates having pulled massive crowds on his tour of several regions in the country to revitalize his party ahead of 2023 elections.
