Rwandan President Paul Kagame has agreed to meet his Democratic Republic of Congo counterpart Fèlix Tshisekedi in Luanda, Angola to hold talks over the ongoing tensions between the two countries.

Angolan Foreign Affairs Minister Tete Antonio made the announcement this Monday, 11th March 2024 following a closed door meeting with João Lourenço, the Angolan President who has been appointed as mediator by the African Union (AU), to resolve the ongoing crisis between the Rwanda and the DR Congo.

The date of the meeting between Kagame and Tshisekedi is yet to be determined and will be communicated in due course, the Angolan Foreign Affairs Minister revealed.

Tete Antonio further revealed that Kagame had accepted in principle to meet Tshisekedi even before he makes a trip to Angola to meet President Lourenço.

President Lourenço had earlier met Tshisekedi as part of his responsibility as mediator to reconcile the two countries as tension continues to grow between the two countries.
