GROUNDED AGAIN: Congolese Aviation Authority Bans Moïse Katumbi’s Private Jet From Flying to Egypt Ahead of Mazembe Champions League Match

The Congolese Civil Aviation Authority have once again blocked opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique leader Moïse Katumbi from flying out of the country with his private jet.

Katumbi had requested the Aviation Authority to grant his plane flight permit to fly to Cairo, Egypt where he is set to attend his club, TP Mazembe’s CAF Champions League semi-final match against Al Ahly on Saturday.

However, the Civil Aviation Authority have so far not responded to Katumbi’s overflight request three days after submission with just less than 48 hours to the match in Cairo.

Since the start of the year, the Civil Aviation Authority have declared the skies of the DR Congo a no flying zone for Katumbi and denied all his requests to use his private jet.

Sources have revealed that senior officials at the presidential offices have instructed the Civil Aviation Authorities not to grant Katumbi’s planes permits to fly out of the DR Congo.

Katumbi who travelled out to neighbouring Zambia is now expected to use a regular flight to jet into Cairo on time to attend his club’s crucial continental assignment.
