Congolese international striker Fiston Mayele Kalala has been named Player of the Year in the the 2022/23 NBC Premier League after a an impressive season with Young Africans Sports Club.
The 28-year old former TP Mazembe marksman put in impressive performances this season for Yanga with his goals leading the Jangwani Boys to a domestic treble as well as the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Unsurprisingly, Mayele was on Monday night named the Best Player in the Tanzanian top-flight at an awards gala.
At the event held in Dar es Salam, Mayele was also jointly bagged the Golden Boot Award with Simba SC’s Saido Ntibazonkiza after scoring 18 goals.
Mayele who was not at the event as he is currently with the DR Congo national team preparing for the AFCON Qualifier against Gabon, also got the Goal of the Season accolade.
The Mbuji Mayi native’s fine form this season also stretch into continental football as he emerged top scorer in the Confederation Cup with a record 7 goals.
