FOOTBALL: Vita, Motema Pembe & Maniema Could Miss Out On Continental Football After New Set CAF Guidelines

Three of Democratic Republic of Congo’s envoys in next season’s CAF inter-clubs competitions facing the likelihood of missing out on participation in the competitions as they do not meet newly set guidelines by the continental football governing body.

Under the new CAF set guidelines, all clubs participating in the Champions League and Confederation Cup will be required to have an active women’s and youth teams.

“Have youth, reserve and women’s teams in addition to their first team,” CAF’s newly set guidelines reads in part.

However, AS Vita Club who are set to compete in the Champions League and DC Motema Pembe and AS Maniema Union, in the Confederation Cup, are not in conformity with the requirements as they all do not have women’s teams.

This means DR Congo could only have one, TP Mazembe, representing the nation in continental football next season.

The three clubs will now have to act fast to ensure all requirements are met before the deadline set with the CAF inter-clubs competitions set to kick-off in September.
