FOOTBALL IS A SIN: Kinshasa Pastor Bans 40-Day Fasting Church Members From Watching Leopards At AFCON

Popular Kinshasa-based clergyman Pastor Marcello Tunatsi has prohibited his church members from watching football at the ongoing 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations while on a 40-day prayer and fasting dubbed “Alpha 40” period.

The population in the DR Congo have been sent into a frenzy by the Leopards who have reached the semi-finals at the tournament with some impressive performances.

However, Pastor Tunatsi has warned his followers that celebrating the Leopards’ victories is idolatry which they must refrain from doing while on a fast.

Pastor Tunatsi, senior pastor at The Compassion Church, has further guided that fasting requires one to deprive themselves of what makes them happy and must therefore avoid the excitement that comes with the game of soccer.

The Compassion Church members will now have to avoid watching the Leopards as they take on Ivory Coast in a highly anticipated semi-final clash in Abidjan as they continue seeking divine intervention during the holy Alpha 40 period.
