EL CAPO IS BACK: Mulumbu Completes Return to Football As He Joins French Club

A free agent since 2021, former DR Congo national team captain and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has made his way back to active football as he joins French third-tier club US Orléans.

The 36-year old who previously played for West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City in the Premier, has joined Orléans on a season long contract.

Mulumbu had been a free agent since 2021 when he parted ways with Lubumbashi giants FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo.

With the club keen to finish top of the French National League (third-tier), Mulumbu is expected to strengthen Orléans’ midfield and provide leadership and guidance in the young and promising team.

Born in France, Mulumbu came through Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain’s youth ranks 15 years ago and went to play in the Premier League for West Brom as Norwich most notably.

He represented the Leopards of DR Congo on 59 occasions and played at the AFCON tournament.
