The signs of a unitary Democratic Republic of Congo are slowing evaporating. Intense war that has started in the east is ravaging the country as it spreads.
And the fears of Balkanization are becoming a reality as the population wallow in a disputed election and heavy fighting.
The United Kingdom authorities in the DRC has advised against all travel to the provinces of Haut-Uélé and Ituri, including the entire border between the DRC and South Sudan North Kivu.
There is an exception for the city of Goma as peacekeepers are stationed there although travel to the eastern city of the mineral rich town is restricted to essential only.
The same case applies to Bukavu. All other travels to areas towards central Congo such as Maniema, Tanganyika, Haut-Lomami and south east Katanga are not advised as insecurity rise with full scale war expected.
