Respected Catholic priest Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo was on Sunday denied entry into the Authorities Lounge at Kinshasa’s Ndjili International Airport as he was about to board his plane to fly to Rome, Italy.
Due to his rank, Cardinal Ambongo is usually makes his way to the VIP Lounge at the airport but was surprisingly stopped from entering the lounge by security.
Sources say the order to refuse Cardinal Ambongo access to the Salon des Autorités had been issued by an anonymous high-ranking government official.
Cardinal Ambongo was however received well by the staff and others present him well in the regular living room and gave him appropriate treatment.
Cardinal Ambongo has been highly critical of the Fèlix Tshisekedi regime for its irresponsible and indiscriminate style of governance.
